Excerpt 1: Prologue
Second muzzle flash. Quick snap and burn in his abdomen - no more than a bee sting, really - and, bah-de-bing, Stephen Forsster conceded the situation had headed south faster than the Dow Jones on Black Monday; but he never for an instant considered he might actually die.

Excerpt 2: Catherine meets Maureen O'Malley
The police believe Catherine murdered her ex-lover, Stephen Forsster; but they don't yet have enough evidence to charge her with the crime. Catherine seeks the assistance of Maureen O'Malley, a former SFPD Homicide Detective who was involuntarily "retired" when she was disabled in a shooting incident, to help identify the killer. This is the scene when Catherine meets O'Malley.

Excerpt 3: Catherine gets involved with a "sexual connoisseur"
This scene describes the initial meeting between Catherine and Stephen, self-proclaimed sexual connoisseur.
